“Journey to the Play Piers” narrates the transition from the city core to the water’s edge with historical anecdotes. During the 1970s and 80s, emerging gay and artist subcultures used the abandoned piers as a site of experimentation and social liberation that was independent of the conformity of urban life around it.

“Pier Review” introduces the piers along the Hudson River, focusing on their typological and programmatic potential. The video highlights the adaptability of the pier typology with analogies of the initial formation and diversity of program of a number of noteworthy piers on the West Side of Manhattan.
